WA Youth Work Code of Ethics

The WA Youth Work Code of Ethics is the core document which informs and guides the ethical practice of youth workers. Developed over a number of years, first through the Youth Affairs Council of WA and then reviewed jointly with the sector by Youth Work WA and YACWA in 2014, the Code expresses the values and responsibilities which are integral to and characterise the Youth Work profession. It is the set of standards that the WA Youth Work sector has agreed to practise by.

The code is intended to support all Youth Workers and Youth Work organisations to make great ethical decisions in their day to day practice. Guides on how to use the Code in practice, and versions for young people are available here.

You can even buy an exclusive set of Code of Ethics Cards for use with emerging youth workers, managers, students, and teams to further embed the Code in your practice. For more information and to buy your sets online now, head to our members section.

The development of the WA Youth Work Code of Ethics was completed in partnership between Youth Work WA and the Youth Affairs Council of WA.
